- What is a spray foam roof?
A spray foam
roof/Polyurethane roof is a monolithic structure which can either be
sprayed or place on top of the roof for the purpose of roofing
material and insulation.
- What is an Acrylic Elastomeric Coating?
Basically it is a water based paint
that contains a certain percentage of solids (typically 50% to 60%
solids).
- Can I just use the Acrylic Elastomeric Coating sold at any local
hardware store?
That depends on the
amount of solids the coating has. For a roof the lowest should
be 50% in order to provide you with the milage/thickness you need to
avoid UV degradation to your foam roof. You should find out
what their specifications are for their coatings and compare it to
Durashield II.
- What else should I find out before I am ready for recoating my
foam roof?
Find out how many
gallons/100 sqft will the contactor use. Also find out the
elongation of the material and of course the amount of solids he
will use.
- What kind of warranty should I get for my money?
5 to 10 year warranty depending on how
thick you requested the coating to be sprayed on your roof.
Typically it is a 5 year warranty, but can go up to 10 years.
- About how much can I expect to save from having a spray foam
roof?
Texas A & M University
began re-roofing their facilities using spray foam 17 years ago.
They kept careful records on the performance of their new roofing
system and observed a tremendous reduction in maintenance costs as
well as decreased energy expenses. Click
